Painting holidays overlooking the sea
Set on the Northwest coast of Ireland, with views across the
Atlantic, Studio na Mara (Studio by the Sea) is the perfect retreat
for a weeks painting.

Donegal is situated high up in the West, where the air is clearer and
the light is different, attracting artists from all over the world, who
often choose to settle here. Donegal's breathtaking beauty lies in its
rugged coastline and landscape, which stretches out across the
County from the imposing silhouette of Mount Errigal in the north,
to the dark, foreboding beauty of the Blue Stack Mountains in the
south.

Studio na Mara is based in an area of Donegal known as The Rosses,
meaning the land that projects into the sea. The area is home to
the Gaeltacht, a land steeped in the rich heritage of the Celt and
the Gael, where the Irish language is still spoken.

Studio na Mara is set in two identical thatched cottages, Seal &
Otter, cottage on the edge of the sea, aptly named as when the
warm sun hits the rocks, pods of seals come out to bask in the
sunshine. And there are plenty of Otters too! Both cottages rest on
the edge of the sea, overlooking Arannmore island.

Accommodation comprises of two downstairs bedrooms both with a
double and a single bed and a shared bathroom, and a large en-suite
double room upstairs. Both cottages have a large open plan living
space with great views out to sea.

Tuition is from our very own Studio Paradiso regular Heidi Nguyen,
who lives and works locally. We will also visit Heidi's studio & have a
workshop there during the week. All meals are lovingly cooked and
prepared by Dermot who is swapping his Italian cuisine for his
traditional Irish fayre and delicious desserts baked by Kathryn.

A week at Studio na Mara is just like Studio Paradiso but without the
pasta!
